Simple Guide on How to Write a Problem Solution Essay
As a student, in your academic life, you will face a lot of challenges. Some professors and instructors may be too much, preparing and studying for your exams will be a pain and balancing your academic and personal life may seem impossible. However, one of the most significant problems students always face at school is assignments. In problem solution essays the aim is to find solutions to problems in order to make the distress, vexation, and perplexity go away. Before you begin putting anything down, you need to carry out extensive research to gather facts and evidence. Once you have collected all the facts and evidence, then you can thoroughly and accurately describe the problem. The solution, on the other hand, is the plan of actions to eradicate the problem. When writing a problem-solution essay, you need to keep in mind that there are a lot of ways to solve any problem. Your task as a writer is to find the best solution and explain why you chose it as the best solution to the problem at hand. Professionals Explain: What Is a Problem Solution Essay? Problem solution essays are a ubiquitous requirement in college and university. Basically, the meaning of it can be taken from its name. It is a type of essay that identifies the problem and states the solution accordingly. Its primary objective is determining the best solution to a specific problem. A problem solution essay usually considers problems in a specific situation. They ultimately give solutions to those problems. They are quite similar to the cause and effects essays in terms of its structure. The Ideal Way on How to Start a Problem Solution Essay Before you start jotting down anything on your paper, you need to develop a thesis statement. It is the statement that outlines the principal argument of the essay. In order to make a strong thesis statement, the writer must specifically outline what the essay will cover instead of making an overview statement based on the topic. Creating a strong thesis statement enables the writer to maintain a clear focus. What Is the Best Problem Solution Essay Outline? A problem solution essay can be approached in two ways: the chain or a block structure. In the block structure, the writer identifies and states all the problems then after that the corresponding solutions are stated. While in the chain structure, after each problem is stated, a corresponding solution follows. Of course, each type of outline has its advantages. The block structure is generally more transparent and more straightforward while the chain structure the problemââ¬â¢s solution is directly identified. When choosing the type of outline, certain factors have to be considered including the number of problems that have to be stated. If a writer has to identify a number of problems, then the chain structure is the best option for the essay. It helps the reader associate the problem to its solution. In the case that there is a single problem the better choice would be to use the block structure. Tips for Writing a Good Problem Solution Essay Structure In order to write the perfect problem solution essay, it should have the right structure. The essay must start with a clear introduction presenting the problem. In the body of your essay state the problem(s) and their respective solutions. End with a conclusion and restate the problem(s) and why you chose their respective solutions. Here are a few more pointers for a brilliant structure: State the problem clearly. Explore the aspects of the problem/problems. Concentrate and clearly expound on its causes and effects. Suggest one or multiple solutions to the specific problem and how it can be implemented. Always use supporting details, this is to say, use anecdotes, examples, statistics, and facts. Be logical when persuading your reader. A Brilliant Problem Solution Essay Introduction- How to Write a Compelling Hook Every problem solution essay starts with an introduction, same as any other essay. In the introduction, the writer identifies the problem. Start by painting out an image of the issue at hand or problem to make it compelling for the audience in and make them continue reading. It is what is known as the hook or the lead; it is used to rill in the reader. The writer also appeals to the emotions of the audience by stating who is affected by the particular problem and the consequences if it is not addressed. How to Write a Captivating Problem Solution Essay Body Here the writer elaborates the problem. Present the problem from a wide perspective and narrow down to the details. Include the historical background of the problem since this can mainly add value to how your paper began and developed to what it is. Credible sources should always substantiate the information provided in the essay. Properly cite your sources to promote a trustworthy tone. After the problem is fully laid out, present concrete solutions or a solution to it. The primary objective of this paper is to convince the audience that the solutions/solution you expound on is the best. For this to be possible, it must be feasible, logical and supported by credible evidence. Pointers for Writing the Best Problem Solution Essay Conclusion The problem solution essay just like all other essays should end with a conclusion. In the conclusion, the writer should restate the issue at hand and summarize all the arguments into one solution to directly address the issue at hand. The solution should contain a call to action to encourage the audience to involve themselves in implementing the solution. To fully convince the audience, you will need to state the consequences of it, if the problem is not addressed immediately. Basically, an excellent problem solution essay should create a sense of urgency to resolve the issue at hand. Proven Problem Solution Essay Tips to Use on Any Topic Writing problem solution essays might seem really hard for students in college and university. But using this guide will make it a walk in the park. These guidelines are proven to reinvent your writing. It should be included in the introduction and should state the sole objective of the essay. Is globalisation a new phenomenon in world politics Essays
Is globalisation a new phenomenon in world politics Essays Is globalisation a new phenomenon in world politics Essay Is globalisation a new phenomenon in world politics Essay In the many academic papers and books published on the subject, globalisation has been given numerous and varying definitions. In spite of these variations, globalisation is commonly agreed to be political, social and economic in its effects: In political life, globalization takes a distinct form, though the general trends towards deterrorialization, interconnectedness across borders, and the acceleration of social activity are fundamental here as well( Scheuerman, 2002) The Progressive Living Glossary defines it as being both a cultural and political concept, seeing it as a trend towards a single world society, a process which trends toward the undermining of national sovereignty in favor of the economic interests of gigantic transnational corporations. (www. progressiveliving. org). Alternatively, Anthony Giddens, a leading sociologist, defines globalisation as a decoupling of space and time and states that culture and knowledge can be instantaneously shared throughout the world using communications systems such as the Internet. www. globalisationguide. org). For the purposes of this essay, I will be utilising the definition that I feel best fits the concept of globalisation, that of Baylis and Smith, who state it as the process of increasing interconnectedness between societies such that events in one part of the world more and more have effects on peoples and societies far away (2001, p7). Although the word globalisation itself is a relatively ne w one, the concept as particularly seen through this last definition can be traced back centuries, even to ancient times. In this essay I intend to show that globalisation is not a new phenomenon and that although there seems to be no commonly agreed point of origin, its roots can be traced back through world history. Additionally, there seems to be an inextricable link between the development of globalisation and the growth of capitalism. However, the advent of instantaneous global telecommunication systems and increased access to all parts of the globe have effectively allowed the process to advance a greater rate in more recent years. The Roman Empire, which encompassed most of the known world, showed clear evidence of sophisticated levels of interconnectedness. Economically, it had its own commercial trading network which stretched hundreds of miles and a common currency similar to that of the modern European Union. On a social level, their culture strongly permeated their conquered nationalities, the legacies of which can still be seen today. Effective communication systems enabled political decisions, originating in Rome, to be carried out across the length and breadth of the empire. The first circumnavigation of the earth in 1519 to 1521 can be regarded as the next significant event which furthered the progress of globalisation from earlier times. For the first time in history the entire world was potentially exposed to global influences. The resulting explosion in trade, on a scale never experienced before, marked the first great leap forward for globalisation. This was quickly followed by a growth in colonialism amongst the great European powers. These powers succeeded in carving most of the known world into vast empires, meaning that by the late nineteenth century even isolated and previously inaccessible continents, like the interior of Africa, were under the jurisdiction of European powers. (Baylis and Smith(eds), 2001, p 45). The Concert of Europe, which was a balance of power coalition, applied the notions of diplomacy and international law on a world wide scale by enforcing them upon their colonies. Even the countries which did not fall under the control of a European nation, were still obliged to abide by these practises. Although it can be argued that western powers economically exploited and enforced their culture upon their colonial territories, nonetheless, this still represents a form of interconnectedness concurrent with the above definition of globalisation cited earlier (Baylis and Smith, 2001). In the years following World War II a strong feeling of anticolonialism emerged. Leaders of European colonies demanded self-determination, an ideal which had its origins in western culture. The resulting independence allowed them access to an inclusive international society thus increasing the existence of interconnectedness between states and nations. From 1947 onwards the majority of Asian and African colonies gained their independence, became full members of the United Nations thus effectively creating a new world order. From the 1960s onwards, the introduction of global communications succeeded in further reducing local and national boundaries as the transfer of information, and potentially power, became instantaneous. However, the ongoing Cold War remained a major barrier as it effectively divided the globe and prevented the process of interconnectedness politically, socially and economically. When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 the last remaining obstacle to globalisation was effectively removed. For the first time in history an international society encompassing the entire world was created. With Communism defeated, for the first time, every country in the world was either capitalist or dependent on trade with capitalist nations. This created an ideal environment for globalisation to flourish. Transnational corporations were able to expand into previously forbidden areas and trade worldwide. Countries from the former Soviet Bloc could now communicate with Western nations, and vice versa, meaning that ideas and cultural experience could be exchanged. Cultural communication at a global level has also increased rapidly. Through the combination of TV, radio, Internet and film, experience of diverse cultures can be gained. The speed at which globalisation has occurred in the past century at a political level is clear to see when studying the number of international organisations and agencies which now exist. Intergovernmental organisations (IGOs) and international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) have sprung up at an incredible rate. In 1909 37 IGOs and 176 INGOs existed, while in 1996, this had grown to 260 IGOs and five and a half thousand INGOs. This proves that globalisation is not a new phenomenon, as at the start of the Twentieth century there existed many international agencies. However, the number which exist in modern times shows just how quickly globalisation has progressed. The main difference between the globalisation today and that of say, a hundred years ago, is the difference in communication. Whilst international trade amongst the richest countries is not significantly greater than it was at the start of the twentieth century, but international communication was slow and expensive. The growth of instantaneous communications has completely changed the political system. This can be seen most clearly when looking at modern warfare. Wars can now be controlled from a computer screen thousands of miles away from the front line. The process of globalisation, although an ongoing one, has rapidly accelerated in the past ten to fifteen years. The fall of the Soviet Union gave rise to a truly worldwide international community for the first time, and global communications systems enable this community to talk to each other instantaneously. World trade has also grown due to the emergence of capitalism as the ideological victor of the Cold War and due to the great advances in communications, specifically the Internet. Globalisation, however, is not entirely new, as its roots lie centuries back. Recent events have taken the process to heights never previously seen or envisaged, but essentially, globalisation has existed, to a lesser extent, for as long as people have been internationally trading.

Truman's Decision to Drop the Atomic Bomb Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Truman's Decision to Drop the Atomic Bomb - Essay Example There were discussions on several occasions about the need to warn the Japanese civilians on an impending attack. While on the surface this seems morally admirable, it was considered a vain action and may have imperiled millions of civilians and military personnel.2 By June 1 1945, the industrial infrastructure had been decimated, but Japan showed no signs of surrendering.3 The unwillingness of Japan to reach a military surrender prompted the Truman administration to pursue the plan of using the bomb. Though it would ultimately be Truman's decision, he carefully considered the other options and weighed the opinions of his closest advisors. The Truman administration had little trust in Russia's long-term intentions in regards to the Asian continent. There were millions of American and Japanese lives at stake. Truman's decision would involve all these stakeholders in a Kohlberg stage five thinking that recognized "...national self-interest itself must be limited and compromised".4 Truman had reached a moral decision based on the interests of the world at large, and the stakeholders involved. Truman has been criticized for acting in his own political interests. However, there was a plan on the table to warn Japan, but this plan was discarded due to the real possibility of the bomb being a dud5.

Critical analysis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Critical analysis - Essay Example Nevertheless, the real issue at hand is the motive behind taking the image. Clearly, there is a voyeuristic element with the way the images are being represented through the lens. It can be observed how the acts are conforming to the intended obscenity, the poor lighting, and the predating conditions before Yoshiyukiââ¬â¢s encounter with the couples. No one could honestly testify the real intent behind the scopophilia but judging from a criticââ¬â¢s point of view, there seems to be no cooperation between Yoshiyuki and the group of people. In the context of photography, while Yoshiyuki did not anticipate the happenstance, the drive that sticks him with the ongoing public demonstration could be related to personal photography, wherein he intended to seize the image for personal use (Wells 56); ââ¬Å"here is a person making choices, not a stationary camera recording what passes before it (ââ¬Å"Gefter, Sex in the Park, and Its Sneaky Spectatorsâ⬠). The photo also suggests o f his nature as a photographer: a voyeur. Although, he vehemently disagreed that he is one. He asserts that ââ¬Å"My intention was to capture what happened in the parks, so I was not a real ââ¬Ëvoyeurââ¬â¢ like themâ⬠(Gefter, ââ¬Å"Sex in the Park, and Its Sneaky Spectatorsâ⬠). ... As a matter of fact, the ââ¬Å"curator of photography at the Museum of Modern Art, agrees that Yoshiyukiââ¬â¢s work falls into a photographic traditionâ⬠(Gefter, ââ¬Å"Sex in the Park, and Its Sneaky Spectatorsâ⬠). In the past and maybe until today, ââ¬Å"aesthetic and subject matter of the photograph was considered as only of secondary importanceâ⬠(49); what is more important is the image itself. Looking at the photo, it is rather conspicuous that no artistic impression was intended; considering the ephemerality of such activity, the motive behind the photo is the image alone ââ¬â an idea that conforms to personal photography ââ¬â in which the practitioner was more concerned of capturing the image rather than understanding its significance. Indeed, obscenity does not entail good standing; hence, this has been discounted in the process, perhaps, due to the voyeuristic purpose of the photograph. As mentioned earlier, it can be argued that obscenity does not entail good standing. If this is so, what was the real motive of the practitioner? Voyeurism and scopophilia can be very subjective oftentimes and so Yoshiyuki, as he proclaimed himself a voyeur, points towards what he can take out of the ââ¬Å"perfectâ⬠encounter; although, the picture expresses manifold significance in the society. The picture somehow signifies the employment of nudity as an indicator of certain types of prejudice in that body is essential to "colonial modes of power, including the processes of representation" (84). The picture relatively depicts a social stratification in the Japanese civilization, in which women are significantly controlled by the men. Photography, in history, took part in the employment of modernist thinking that criticizes ââ¬Å"high and low culturesâ⬠, which are

Summer of the Gods Essay Example for Free
Summer of the Gods Essay The Butler Act refers to the law prohibiting teachers in Tennessee to teach their students, theories that purport to go against the creation theory as found in the bible. It prohibits teaching of any theory that would allude to the notion that man has gradually evolved from a lower primate. This law passed in January 1925. The passing of this law sparked a lot of controversy pitting more than half of the Christians living in the state of Tennessee against political and civil rights activists. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) had been vehemently opposed to this act and vowed to offer its services in defense of any teachers accused of violating the Butler Act. It is in the bid to accomplish this that ACLU and other civil rights activists placed an advert seeking for a volunteer teacher. John Scopes responded and volunteered to test the act. A case was built out of this on the belief that Scopes had indeed taught against the creation theory to his student in Clark County High School. Scopes with the help of the civil right movements deliberately incriminated himself in the greater mission of bringing to the public limelight the unfairness of this act and how it was a grave violation of a teacherââ¬â¢s freedom. The trial that would follow would see the meeting of great legal minds. One of this was Clarence Darrow,a self proclaimed atheist and William Jennings Bryan, assisting the prosecution at the request of the World Christian Fundamental Association. A look at this trial indicates that Scopes was just being used as pawn in what had become an ideological turf of war as demonstrated by the sort of the high profile personalities it attracted. William Jennings Bryan had been alleged to have been instrumental on drafting the Butler Act in the belief that citizens should have a say in what was taught in schools. Clarence volunteered to join the defense to further use it as a forum to propagate his beliefs and attack the basis of Butler Act especially the foundation of Christian beliefs. The American Civil Liberties Union on the hand was seeking to mount its opposition and challenge the constitutionality of the Butler Act. (Carson 91) Clarence Darrow was highly agonistic and used this trial to attack the fundamental Christians. It is to be noted that the main aim of the trial as projected by ACLU was to defend Scopes by invalidating the Butler Act. However, Clarence Darrow would go ahead and take it to a level where he sought to invalidate Christian teachings, a radical shift and diversion from ACLU key intention. Darrowââ¬â¢s argument in courts and his cross examination of William Jennings Bryan was supposed to be a clear illustration of his stand. In this cross examination and the argument regarding whether the Jonah was swallowed by a big fish or by a whale was supposed to invalidate the bible and hence attack the very foundation of Christianity, diminishing its importance and hence the Creation theory. This trial, as Carson says, was important not only to Darrow and ACLU but even to the rest of the Americans. It sought to embody the characteristically American struggle between liberty and majoritarian democracy (265). Darrow had an intention of throwing a spanner in the already turbulent debate that had dominated the public domain for long; science and religion. The stand of ACLU was that the Butler act was inappropriate and unconstitutional, it impeded on teachers independence and freedom of imparting knowledge to the students. They agreed that teaching of evolution theory did not in any way contradict the teachings in the bible but rather was merely giving a science perspective of the origin of man to students (Carson 89). Darrowââ¬â¢s cross examination of Bryan was meant to cast a doubt to Bryanââ¬â¢s convictions in the biblical teachings. Bryan was fronting an argument that Butler Act was but a well meaning effort by the legislature to have a say in the curriculum that students were exposed to. Clarence Darrow was maintaining that the arguments given by the prosecution were invalid. He saw the Butler Act as an unconstitutional strategy by the legislature to promote the views of one religious group over others. Butler Act had outlawed any teaching that was contrary to the biblical teachings. The Scopes trial brought a lot of attention to the issues of evolution and biblical teachings. It is this trial that would ignite and spark a far reaching debate wishing to delink religious views from science. The defense was trying to argue that Scopes was trying to teach the various perspectives of the origin of man and not seeking to contradict biblical teachings. It was been by Christian fundamentalists as a wider war on culture. Teaching of evolution theory was seen as way of putting into disrepute the biblical teachings. Most religious groups have come to note that this debate is inevitable and have demanded that evolution theory be taught as one of the many theories of the origin of mankind but not be taught as a scientific fact.
